- Prepare business, tax and bank details before starting registration.
- Keep product identifiers, images and catalogue attributes ready before listing.
- Choose fulfilment based on operational capability, product economics and customer reach.
- Do not treat account creation as the end of onboarding; catalogue and launch readiness matter too.
1. Prepare the business information first
Keep the legal business name, address, contact details, bank information and applicable tax registrations consistent across the documents you intend to use. Amazon may request verification at different stages, so mismatched names or addresses can create avoidable delays.
GST requirements depend on the products you sell and the applicable Indian tax rules. Sellers should confirm their own tax position rather than assuming every product follows the same requirement.
2. Prepare product and brand information
For each product, collect the brand name, product title, key attributes, dimensions, weight, package quantity, images and any identifiers that apply. If a product is eligible for GTIN exemption, complete that process before building the catalogue around the exemption.
If you own or represent a brand, keep trademark or brand-authorization information available where relevant. Brand Registry and ordinary seller registration are separate processes.
3. Decide how orders will be fulfilled
Compare FBA, Easy Ship and Self Ship before launch. Consider product size and weight, inventory location, dispatch capability, expected order volume, customer geography and the total cost of each fulfilment route.
A fulfilment method that looks cheaper on one fee line can still be less suitable operationally if it creates slower delivery, more manual work or poor stock availability.
4. Build the first catalogue carefully
Use accurate titles, attributes, images and variation relationships. Avoid copying claims or keywords that are not supported by the product. Correct catalogue structure at launch is usually easier than repairing duplicated or incorrectly merged listings later.
5. Complete launch-readiness checks
Before accepting orders, check inventory, price, shipping settings, return settings, tax information, notifications and the Account Health area. After launch, monitor order defects, customer messages, listing suppressions and inventory status regularly.
